As part of the GEM Learning Sector, the Children’s Museum will inspire children to test their own skills and guide them through the adventure of learning Egyptian heritage and history. Using this knowledge, this new generation will light the path forward and help create a new world.
Mission
The Children’s Museum at the Grand Egyptian Museum is devoted to sparking a child’s passion about ancient Egyptian culture. The GEM CM was created as a safe, loving, welcoming, and imaginative environment for learning and play. Our interactive environment allows children to choose the way they learn best, fostering cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
At the Children’s Museum, the audience is the real treasure. The GEM CM is committed to welcoming all Egyptians, especially children ( 6-12 ) and families, and to encouraging them to embrace a sense of wonder in their ancient Egyptian heritage. All visitors coming from the diverse communities of the world are welcome.
Through curriculum-based learning experiences, students will view history through intersecting perspectives with creative guidance from GEM experts creating strong critical-thinking skills, increased historical empathy, and a deep respect for the rich cultural heritage of Egypt.
Throughout GEM CM spaces, a strong emphasis is placed on multi-generational dialogue with experiences designed to encourage families to engage in discussions about the history and culture of ancient Egypt.
Self-directed learning is a priority for GEM CM where we are turning away from hands-off towards please-touch, giving children a space to learn on their own and the ability to explore answers to questions that they are passionate about.
Offering a rich variety of curated programmes, performances, and workshops, GEM CM gives children the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills.
To fulfil the needs of the visitor, GEM CM has ground-breaking children-lead programmes where children work behind the scenes with GEM CM staff to create experiences that they need to learn.
Integrated technology at GEM CM brings inspiration, challenges, enlightenment, and innovation through interactive play.
Striving together with national and international museums and institutions, the GEM CM will offer transformative children’s programming through mutual cooperation and support.
