Second International Tutankhamun GEM Conference

‘About Tutankhamun’ was the title for the Second International Tutankhamun GEM Conference starting on 6th May 2016. Expert scientists and academics from Egypt and countries around the world participated in this very successful congress. Talks included lectures given by German conservation scientist Christian Ekman on the restoration and study of King Tutankhamun's golden mask beard and by Dr. Fathy Saleh under the title ‘On the Discovery of King Tutankhamun’s Tomb: Virtual Reality Presentation”. The closing session of the conference was devoted to discussing the radar scanning of King Tutankhamun’s tomb.
As part of the conference activities, a documentary film was shown lauding the achievements of the GEM Conservation Centre and the restoration work being done for all the artefacts transferred to the museum, which number in the thousands.
