Description

A round-topped limestone stela discovered in Qurna (West Thebes) in 1887. In the upper register of the stela is a double scene of the deified King Amenhotep I and his mother Queen Ahmose-Nefertari seated at an offering table. In the lower register, Smentaui (left) and Huy (right) who apparently commissioned the stela are kneeling in adoration. Columns of texts in the space between the two men recite their prayers to Amenhotep I and Ahmose-Nefertari who became patrons of the workmen of the Theban necropolis and their families.
