Description
A cache of ten seated statues of King Senwosret I was discovered in 1894 during excavations made at his funerary temple at El-Lisht. All ten statues show the king seated on the throne, wearing the nemes head cloth and the royal kilt. The sides of the throne are decorated with the sematawy sign symbolising the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt. Five of the thrones were decorated with the unification performed by two representations of god Hapi, while the remaining five, including this statue, were decorated with the action of unification performed by Horus and Seth.
