Description

This wooden model was found wrapped in a linen cloth inside a sarcophagus-shaped box that also contained five shabti tools. Here, the king is shown as a mummy lying on a lion-headed funerary bed. Two small figures of a human-headed bird and a falcon sit at his elbows and each wraps a wing around the king’s body. The human-headed bird represents the king’s ba or spirit, while the falcon is probably the king transformed into the god Horus. According to inscriptions on the funerary bed, this model was gifted to the king by Maya who served as ‘Overseer of Works in the Valley of the Kings’.
