Description
A painted wooden model of a funerary boat discovered in Meir in 1885. The two rudderposts are hawk-headed. A model of a sarcophagus inscribed with the name of Ukhhotep lies under a four-post canopy. Nine figurines, wearing long white garments, sit before the canopy facing each other. The hull is made of one piece. The sarcophagus and all figurines are fastened with pegs, while the rudderposts rest in holes. The whole boat is covered with a layer of plaster and painted. The hull is painted green, the deck is painted white with red bars, while the tips of the bow and stern are in blue. A wedjat eye is painted on each side of the bow.
