Fragments of this red granite statue were discovered in 1825 in the Great Temple of Amun located at Tanis (San el-Hagar). The statue shows Ramesses II and a goddess (probably Anath, a foreign goddess of war who played the role of protector of the king). The goddess touches the king's crown with her right hand and rests her left hand on his arm. Though the statue does not have an inscription, it has been positively identified as Ramesses II as it has the facial features of the king and was found at Tanis where many other statues of the king have been uncovered.
