Description
A limestone statue of Kheperkarasoneb and his wife Meryt from Deir el-Bahri in West Thebes. The couple are seated side by side on a high back chair. Following ancient Egyptian artistic conventions, the man is seated on the left side. He wears a shoulder-length hair wig and a mid-length kilt. Meryt wears a close-fitting dress and a hair wig with two braids falling on her chest and a broader section of hair at the back. The style of art and the offering formula inscribed on the sculpture suggest a date at the beginning of Dynasty 18.
