Description

A greywacke cube statue belonging to Penuuepeqer discovered in the Karnak Cache (CK 182) in 1904. Penuuepeqer held important priestly titles at the precinct of Amun-Re at Karnak. Judging by the sculpture’s stylistic details and its inscriptional material, it can be dated to Dynasty 22 or 23. Penuuepeqer is squatting on a cushion. He wears a shoulder-length striated hair wig that leaves his ears exposed and a false beard that is connected to the body block. A cloak fully covers his body with only the hands indicated in relief and the right hand holds a folded cloth. The statue has a shallow back pillar that ends just where it meets the wig. On the front of the cloak is a framed scene depicting the Theban triad: Amun-Re, Mut and Khonsu-Nefer-Hotep. The inscriptions give the name, titles and filiation of the statue owner.
