For the safety, well-being and security of our staff, visitors, collections and premises:
- Bags, backpacks, luggage or parcels larger than 40 x 40 cm are not permitted into the museum, and must be checked into the cloakroom.
- If asked, you must allow our security officers to search your bags or backpacks when you enter the museum or any of our exhibitions.
- Knives, screwdrivers, scissors, firearms, other sharp piercing items or dangerous materials are not permitted into the museum.
- Do not bring umbrellas into the museum. Please leave them at the baggage check.
- Do not bring folding seats or any other type of seat into the galleries unless you obtain permission from museum security.
- Animals or pets are not allowed to enter the museum.
- Musical instruments are not allowed inside the museum.
- Do not bring any advertising banners, carry placards or signs inside the museum unless you obtain approval from museum authorities.
- Please do not touch any artefacts or showcases.
- Food and drinks (except for small water bottles) are not allowed within the galleries.
- Smoking is prohibited throughout the museum (except in specifically designated areas).
- Please refrain from disorderly, disruptive, offensive language or actions.
- Please be quiet when using your cell phone.
- Audio players are not permitted throughout the museum.
- Do not use flashlights or laser pointers at the museum.
- Appropriate attire is requested.
- Do not take off your shoes, lay down on seats, or on the floor.
- Please follow all posted signs and visitor instructions.
- Children (under 12 years of age) must be accompanied by an adult inside the museum.
- Please be careful that children do not run or play rough.
Students of archaeology, art and design, please conduct yourself respectfully in regard to the following:
- Only use pencils for taking notes or sketching in the galleries and exhibitions.
- Do not use pens and pen markers as they are prohibited in all galleries and exhibitions.
- Do not use sketchbooks that exceed 46 x 62 cm.
- Do not disrupt accessibility for other visitors; allow visitors to move freely throughout the galleries.
- Stay careful and avoid bumping into visitors, display cases as well as artefacts.
- Private personal photography and video recordings are permitted inside the museum after paying ticket fees.
- Please refrain from taking photographs of other visitors or staff as it may violate their personal rights.
- Taking photographs and video recordings for commercial use (TV, cinema, programmes, advertising, documentary clips, etc.) are permitted only after obtaining permission from museum authorities and paying set daily fees.
- Please refrain from using flash photography.
- Please refrain from using tripods or monopods except for commercial use, when permission from museum authorities has been granted.
- In times of emergency such as earthquake or fire, please follow the instructions of museum staff.
- When an earthquake strikes, please move away from large sculptures, display cases, and other objects that may fall.
