Description
One of seven wooden sticks of various sizes from the tomb of Mesehti, a provincial governor of Asyut in the Middle Kingdom. Sticks were symbols of authority that were sometimes buried with non-royal individuals. This was possibly to link the deceased to the god of the dead Osiris or to aid them on their journey to the afterlife.
