Description

A granite sphinx of King Thutmose III discovered in the Karnak Cache (CK 495). It shows a human-headed sphinx wearing the traditional pleated nemes headcloth decorated by the protective uraeus snake. The hieroglyphic text between the paws of the sphinx identifies the king as ‘Menkhepre, the good god, lord of the Two Lands, beloved of Amun, life eternally’.
