Description
A silver bowl decorated with a series of thick vertical gadroons (slightly tapered bands). This decorative motif was made by hammering metal from the reverse side, also known as repoussé technique. It was discovered in 1936 among other artefacts deposited in four copper-alloy chests hidden in the foundation sand under the temple dedicated by King Senwosret I for god Montu at Tod. Two of the chests bore the name of King Amenemhat II who possibly deposited them in memory of his father Senwosret I.
