Description
A statue of a goddess, probably Isis or Hathor, from the so-called ‘Dendera Treasure Hoards’ (caches of gorgeous silver, gold and bronze objects discovered in the area between the Dendera temple and its enclosure wall). The statue was discovered in 1918 near the sacred lake of the temple and is almost identical with GEM 2560 that came from the same votive ritual hoard. The seated goddess wears a tripartite hair wig topped with a fillet, a uraeus snake and a double crown. She wears a broad collar and a close-fitting dress, and her hands are clenched beside her knees.
