Description
An Egyptian alabaster vessel from the collection of Mesehti, a provincial governor of Asyut in Dynasty 11. It has a wide rounded rim, smooth body and a flat base, the typical form for ointment jars in ancient Egypt. Cosmetic and perfume ointments were used by men and women in ancient Egyptian. These ointments also had important roles in religious and funerary rites.
