Description
A Ptolemaic golden necklace discovered at Dendera in 1914. The necklace is made of a solid gold wire with fourteen ornaments and closes at each end by a hook. The central pendant is a large gold plaque whose upper corners are rounded. The bottom of the plaque is folded back, giving it a little more rigidity. On the plaque, Horus the Child wears a double crown, holds an ankh sign (life) in his left hand and a sistrum (symbol of goddess Hathor) in his right hand. On each side of this plaque is strung a series of objects, six on one side, seven on the other. They include: two wadjet eyes, five figures of the god Bes and five spherical beads decorated with small circles.
