Description
In these earrings tiny figures of the king stand on a heb festival sign between uraeus snakes, all suspended from a falcon. Each earring is made up of three parts and it would have been impossible for the king to put these on alone. They were fastened by passing a hollow ridged tube through one side of the earring pendant, the piercing, and then the other side of the earring pendant. This was then fixed by inserting a thinner tube from the back. Earrings became popular during the New Kingdom in Egypt and were worn by men, women and children. Some scholars debate whether Tutankhamun wore earrings beyond puberty.
