Description

This granite squatting statue was discovered by G. Legrain in the Karnak Cache (CK 405) in 1904. Its owner Wsirwer wears a shoulder-length hair wig and a false beard. His legs are drawn up before his chest and his arms are crossed over his knees. His body is fully enveloped in a cloak, only the hands are indicated in relief, protruding from the cloak. A small figure of god Osiris, flanked by two vertical columns of text, decorate the front of his cloak. It appears from the texts on the statue that Wsirwer held important priestly titles, such as the ‘god Father’, ‘Stolist’ and ‘Supervisor of Works’
