Description
This large carrying chest was found just inside the Treasury. The box is shaped like the pylon gateway walls that stand in front of Egyptian temples. It is fixed onto a gilded wooden sledge with long carrying poles. An impressive black and gold figure of the god Anubis as a jackal sits on top, with its tail hanging down at the back of the box. Anubis was god of mummification and the guardian of the necropolis. Inside, the box is divided into four small compartments that contained cult objects wrapped in linen and one large compartment holding jewellery.
