Description
A lapis lazuli amulet discovered in 1936 among other artefacts in the Tod Treasure. The amulet is in the form of a recumbent bovid (perhaps a bull with horns). The stone was pierced so that it could be strung and worn. The reach of Egypt’s far-flung trade network is evident as the nearest source for lapis lazuli was in Afghanistan.
